MONOCHROME WHILE WORKING FROM HOME

Many companies and businesses made decisions to send employees to their homes due to social distancing and stay-at-home orders in many states. With this came the increased use of videoconferencing as a solution to staying connected with co-workers. CNBC noted that daily users spiked to 200 million in March, up from 10 million in December. Many employees continued to dress business casual or business professional, but only from the waist up. Most people did not see the need to get dressed from head-to-toe when only the upper half of their body would be shown on camera.
That being said, when considering trends for Spring 2020, blazers were still in a league of their own. WGSN reported an increase of 35% in sales of the garment compared to Spring of last year which shows that the jacket has moved toward being an essential basic in the wardrobe of many women. Regarding other necessary pieces in Spring and Summer wardrobes for the year of 2020 is the inclusion of the one-piece body suit and a sporty sneaker. Body suits have made their way into closets as a main piece as it is versatile and simple. Sneakers are the perfect shoe to dress down an outfit as well as making it more practical. In a WGSN retail analysis of women's footwear trends for this Spring, sneakers and sports shoes were one of the categories with the most views upon customers when online shopping this year.
When considering color trends for 2020, monochrome was seen everywhere from streetwear to editorial. It can be seen as a way to elevate basics and look casual yet chic. The look pictured here, capture the "Monochrome While Working From Home" aesthetic as the outfit's pieces only include black.
