FLORENCE PUGH FOR COSMOPOLITAN
FASHION CAREER ACCELERATOR

I was supposed to complete an internship in NYC as part of my final academic requirements starting June 2020. However, my plans to enter the workforce as well as relocate to the most highly populated city in America were halted. I was extremely sad and confused. Being someone who was excited to enter the fashion industry, I was devastated. However, I was able to find some clarity in the chaos and enrolled in Andrew Gelwicks Fashion Career Accelerator. He created a 6-week experience where likeminded individuals would be able to meet and share in a learning experience.
At the end of the program we were tasked with a project. Andrew asked students to seek inspiration from either the styling, public relations, marketing or editorial side of the industry. I chose the magazine side and was tasked with picking talent and developing an idea to execute a cover shoot and editorial spread for rising actress, Florence Pugh. It was also necessary to choose a photographer, stylist, makeup artist and hair stylist to execute the shoot,
COSMOPOLITAN MISSION STATEMENT
"Always encouraging women to think differently about themselves. To embody their quirks and flaws. To celebrate their individualism. To unapologetically live life on their terms."
When considering a cover girl, Florence Pugh was front in mind. She is an up-and-coming actress with an established resume while only being 24 years old. She has stared in a variety of films including "Fighting With My Family" to "Little Women" to her most recent film, "Black Widow".
I chose Florence as the cover girl for Cosmo for the month of April 2020 as that was when "Black Widow" premiered in the US. My goal when executing this project was to juxtapose the fact that she a strong female lead in the most recent Marvel movie with the fact that she is fun, fresh and only 24. As for her past editorial presence she has been featured in larger magazines like Vogue, Glamour and Elle. She has yet to be featured in Cosmo and felt she was a great fit for the magazine.
When featuring Florence, I wanted to show her in a different way than she has in past editorial features. I would like to dress her in a "chic business casual look" as she is to be taken seriously for her work as well as accentuate her youthful manner. For the cover, I would love to dress her in an oversized blazer with her hair in a sleeked back high bun. As for her editorial spread, I would love to see her in a tailored pant suit, natural makeup with loose waves in her hair.
