"GRADUATION IN PANDEMIC FASHION"

One of the biggest points of discussions for high schools, Universities and class sizes all around the nation during the time of COVID-19 was how to approach the situation regarding graduation. Graduation is a time when students, families, friends, and faculty who have historically gathered without hesitation in the past would not legally be allowed to take place during the Coronavirus pandemic. For many, this meant the ceremony would be celebrated on a virtual format while it was postponed for others.

Graduation is arguably one of the most important events in a person's life, whether it is from high school to graduate school. Knowing this, many high schools as well as Universities got creative with their approach. Marquette High School in Chesterfield, Missouri postponed the May graduation and had students and faculty participate in a unique ceremony at a drive-in movie theater. Students took their seats in "pods" on the lawn and parents and family members listened from their cars and tuned in via radio channel. A livestream option was made available for those who could not or chose not to attend. For college graduates, like myself, the ceremony was postponed. As a May 2020 graduate, there would not be a ceremony for myself and thousands of others. University of Arkansas students who were supposed to walk in the Spring ceremony were given the option to attend the December ceremony. For the time being, the school created a website to recognize graduates. Other Universities decided to forgo the in-person ceremony and held virtual ceremonies.

For the look, a black dress paired with a cap and gown was featured. in WGSN's "Collection Review: Women's Colour A/W 19/20" a "Black Out" can be described as a "black-on-black" ensemble that has started to "work it's way back as a true fashion statement". To contrast, a pair of snakeskin heels were worked into the outfit as a statement piece. For Autumn 2019, snakeprint was a standout and performed well in global markets.
